After five episodes...
Five installments of the Ken Burns/Lynn Novick documentary The Vietnam
War have now aired; there are five episodes still to come. It is,
simply, a remarkable, and riveting program--deeply informative, and deeply
emotional to watch.

"The Vietnam War," new documentary by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, beginning tonight
Am looking forward to watching the new documentary, The Vietnam War, by the immensely talented Ken Burns; the film's co-director is Lynn Novick. The film, which begins airing tonight (Sunday) on PBS, is written by Geoffrey C. Ward.
The piece about the film, below, is from the September 1st New York Times.
From the end of the piece:
"Mr. Burns said the film takes an 'equal opportunity' approach to the inhumanity of the war. It’s the kind of resolutely centrist balance that may not sit well with partisan viewers, but so be it.
" 'Today, we suffer from too much certainty,” he said. 'I like the middle, the uncertainty of things. I think that’s where all the progress, all the healing, takes place.'"
