President Obama, at a Friday campaign rally for Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania, reprimanded members of the audience. They were booing a pro-Trump protester, an older man who was in the audience, and the President objected to the booing--repeatedly, and sharply. He defended the protester. Mr. Obama said: "First of all, we live in a country that respects free speech. Second of all, it looks like maybe he might've served in our military and we gotta respect that. Third of all, he was elderly and we gotta respect our elders."
Later, at a campaign rally, Trump claimed the President was "screaming
at this protester," which the President of course had not done at all.
Trump's complete distortion of what actually took place is deeply
reprehensible, and troubling--though it is not particularly surprising.
